| So this entry is going to be a bit of a downer so if you don't want to read anymore stop now.
Ok, so the church were I am working is going through some tough times. We are finacially unstable, our leadership is some what new, and we have no real vision for the future as of right now. We are working to fix these things, but what i can't stand is how many people are cutting and running from our church. People who were leaders are now not attending. People who were heavily involved don't attend anymore. It makes me think that I am the problem because most of these things have taken place since my arrival. I just don't know what to do. Is it me that has caused these things to happen? Is it because I suck at being a minister? Am I doing what God really wants me to do? I'm sick of having these thoughts and for thinking that I suck and beating my self up about trying to please people! do any of you guys know where I'm coming from? Is there anything I can do? I'm at a loss right now and don't know what I should do next.
Hopefully i can look back over these kinds of entries in a few years and laugh about how stupid I was, but until then I will just try to keep plugging along.
| So tonight Torie and I set a new record. We were able to stick 13 pens under my fat flap. if you don't know what the "fat flap" is, it is the big fat flap that hangs over the waist of a fat person, sometimes refered to as a "dunlop" as in "Done lapped over my belt!" But yeah tonight we fit 13 pens underneath of my fat flap that is a great thing!
In other news Torie and I watched a movie called "Be Kind Rewind" it was AMAZING. I really though it was awesome! So I recommend it to everyone.
We also went to a cookout today (I know what a surprise!) at Mike and Rendi Tharps house. Mike is one of our Drummers and Rendi is his wife. We went over there and had some grilled steak and corn on the cop and mac and cheese and cresant rolls. It was really nice and we are glad that people have invided us to there home and been acepting of us. Actually other than the senior minister and one of the elders, it was the first time someone invited us over to there house. So that is good and kinda bad because people in the mid west just are not as hospitible as people in the south and that is kinda sad. We miss southern hospitality!
Well until next time good people out in Xanga land,
I've got to go dry some dishes!
(oh ummmm my wife is just the best ever. She is very pretty and i love her very much!)
| Well hello everybody!!
Its been a good long while since i have updated last so I figure it is time for some blogging. So the biggest and best piece of news is that I am updating on my brand new macbook! HOLAAA! It is supper sweet and fun. The one thing that is kind of bad right now is that my wireless router is older and so it doesn't always give me the best connection on the mac, but other than that I am pleased as punch!
Also tomorrow Torie and I are meeting with a Real Estate agent and discussing some options and possibilities. The housing market here in Lafayette and W. Lafayette is totally great if you are buy, but completely bad if you are a seller. But fortunately for us we are buyers so we may be getting our own little slice of the america dream.
The ministry is going. I don't know where yet, but it is going. I have only been here for three months and I am still trying to get to know most of the students, and still trying to figure out what the leadership expects of me and where the church as a whole needs to go. So prayers on that front would be greatly appreciated.
So enough about me, how are you guys doing? Anything I can be praying for you about? keep you accountable for?
Oh BTW, one of the sister churches here is town, Brady Lane Church of Christ, just had there Youth Minister resign. So if you need/want a ministry there is one open here in Lafayette IN. Come on out and join me here in the midwest!
Until next time, Tyler | | |
| So I have been doing this ministry thing for a month now and i got to say bible college really didn't prepare me for local ministry. Yes, it taught me everything i needed to know, but I really still didn't feel prepared. I guess it doesn't help that I'm doing youth ministry more than worship ministry, which is what i was trained to do really. But i guess it is coming along. I have my first student ministry involvement meeting tomorrow afternoon. It has been interesting being in charge of things. I am still at a loss for coming up with curriculum and things to teach. So if any of you veteran YM's out there would like to send a little wisdom my way that would be greatly appreciated!
On a more personal note, this Thursday I will have been married for two years! that is neat. Torie and I are getting a Wii from my little brothers for our anniversary, they don't play theirs so they are sending it to us so now we don't have to buy one! So marriage is cool, it is differnt to not think of only your self all the time and you have to plan for more than just your self and be responsible. it is neat as well. Growing up truly is hard to do. (upon writing that line, my said wife informed me that I am Cheesy and indeed I am)
Until next time gadget,
Tyler

| So the greatest thing happened today at Chic fil a. We where the 100th customer so we got our meal for free! Two number 1 combo's value sized... for FREE! man this was a great day! So now I have even more reason to go to the CFA. They do this everyday, so I guess I know where I'll be playing the lottery for the next few weeks lol.
So ministry is going good I guess it has only been a week. It is going to take time it is an adjustment, but it is coming together.
